10. Guide to Request and Configure the Dropbox API Key

 

  1. Visit the Dropbox Developers Console:
    Open your web browser and navigate to the Dropbox Developers Console. Make sure you are logged in with your Dropbox account. If you don’t have an account, create one before proceeding.
  2. Sign in to your Dropbox account:
    Enter your login credentials to access the developers panel.
  3. Create a new application:
    Click on the “Create App” button at the top of the page. This process sets up a dedicated configuration environment for your integration.
  4. Choose the required access type:
    Select either “App folder” (limited access to a specific folder) or “Full Dropbox” (access to all files in the account). It is recommended to use “App folder” if your app only needs access to a specific folder, as this option is more secure and restricted.
  5. Provide a unique name for your app:
    Enter a descriptive and unique name that identifies your application. This name will appear in the configuration and must be unique to avoid conflicts with other apps.
  6. Create the application:
    Click “Create App” to complete the initial setup. You will then be redirected to your app’s configuration page.
  7. Obtain the App key:
    On the configuration page, locate and copy the “App key” provided. This API key is needed to connect your Bubble plugin to Dropbox.
  8. Configure Permissions and Redirect URI (if necessary):
    Review and set up the necessary permissions for your app, such as read/write access to files. If your app uses authentication, configure the redirect URI according to your integration requirements.
  9. Save and copy the App key:
    After verifying all settings, copy the “App key” and use it in the corresponding property (app_key_dropbox) of your Bubble plugin configuration.
